About

My passion for art was ignited in the flames of my youth as a young lad reading comic books. I was inspired to pick up a pencil and trace my favourite characters. I enjoyed the rather laissez-faire approach to art in my secondary school and upon leaving I continued to doodle away in my spare time, never really taking it seriously until I entered into technical college (UBI Lurgan).

At college I was exposed to a multitude of styles and media which really opened my eyes to the plethora of avenues down which I could wander on my creative journey. After a brief spell at university I became disillusioned with the "art world" but never with the world of art. I decided then that I would follow my instincts and began to teach myself how to paint and truly explore my creative inner talent.

I drew inspiration from everywhere and anywhere, from the simplicity of cave art, to the obscure realm of Surrealism, paying particular attention to the weird and wonderful beauty to be found in nature. I wouldn't consider myself to be a fan of any artist in particular; I'm more interested and concerned with the images they produce. I do admire artists who are not afraid to expose their souls in their work and are bold enough not to stick to any one particular style.

What excites me about the world of art is the never ending search to unearth hidden abilities and the continual striving to better myself. I want my art to always be in a state of evolution and I believe that the only way I can achieve this is through a willingness to engage with and employ as many media and materials as I can, from wood carving to stencilling, and sand-etching on stained glass windows.

I love to highlight the beauty in the somewhat overly familiar, such as everyday shapes and forms that are to be found all around us, in both natural and man-made environments. I also strive to discover an alternative take on commonly held perceptions on societal norms, morals, and values and express them through my work in an effort to leave questions in peoples minds.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I do creating it.
